数量补语1 — 动词+动量补语

The action complement (动量补语) follows the verb to indicate how many times the action is realized. The most common classifier is 次 (times).

How to use it

  • 次 = times (general); 遍 = times (from beginning to end); 下 = times (brief).
  • If the verb has an object, it comes after the complement.

Examples

我去过两次中国。

wǒ qù guo liǎng cì Zhōngguó。

I have been to China twice.

请再说一次。

qǐng zàishuō yí cì。

Please repeat it once.

请你看一下。

qǐng nǐ kàn yíxià。

Please look at it for a moment.

Notes and exceptions

  • If the verb has an object, the object comes after the complement: I have been to China twice.

Common mistakes

  • Order: Verb + Complement + Object, not Verb + Object + Complement.
