The preposition 和 (with) connects two people in a common action. 对 (towards, to) introduces the person concerned by the action.

Notes and exceptions
- The preposition 和 (with) is different from 和 (and) as a conjunction.
- 和 : and; with.
- 对 : correct; just. The word "对" can have multiple meanings depending on the context, such as "right", "correct", or prepositions like "towards", "to".
Common mistakes
- *我喜欢唱歌和他喜欢跳舞 → 我和他都喜欢唱歌: 和 cannot connect two complete sentences.
